Data Deletion
Last Updated: [28/Jan/2026]
This Data Deletion Policy explains how Mahalli handles requests related to the deletion, anonymization, or retention of personal data in accordance with applicable laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain, including the Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 30 of 2018) (“PDPL”).
Mahalli is operated by The 1 Percent Solutions, Commercial Registration No. 102103-1, headquartered in Seef, Kingdom of Bahrain.
1. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to all users of the Mahalli platform, including buyers and sellers, and covers personal data collected, processed, and stored during the use of the Platform.
This policy should be read together with Mahalli’s Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
2. Current Account Deletion Model
At this stage, Mahalli does not support self-service account deletion through the mobile application or website.
User accounts remain active unless:
- Suspended or terminated by Mahalli, or
- Deleted following a formal request and internal review
This approach supports operational continuity, fraud prevention, transaction integrity, and legal compliance.
3. Requesting Data Deletion
Users may request deletion of their personal data by contacting:
Email: contact@mahalli.app
Requests must originate from the email address associated with the user’s Mahalli account or include sufficient information to verify identity.
Mahalli reserves the right to request additional verification before processing any deletion request.
4. Evaluation of Deletion Requests
All data deletion requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Deletion may be fully or partially denied where retention is required for:
- Ongoing or unresolved transactions
- Financial reconciliation, escrow, or payment records
- Compliance with legal, regulatory, or tax obligations
- Fraud prevention, security, or abuse investigations
- Enforcement of Mahalli’s Terms & Conditions
5. Data Retention After Deletion Requests
Where deletion is approved:
- Personal data will be permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymized
- Residual data may remain in backups for a limited period but will not be actively processed
Where deletion is not approved:
- Data will be retained only for the minimum period necessary
- Access to retained data will be restricted internally
6. Transactional & Financial Records
Transactional, payment, and escrow-related records may be retained even after account deactivation or deletion, where required for:
- Accounting and audit purposes
- Legal compliance
- Dispute resolution
Such data is retained strictly in accordance with applicable laws and internal retention schedules.
7. Third-Party Systems
Where personal data has been shared with authorized third-party service providers (e.g., payment processors, infrastructure providers), Mahalli will take reasonable steps to ensure deletion or anonymization where feasible and legally permissible.
Mahalli is not responsible for independent data retention practices of third parties acting as separate data controllers.
8. Timeline for Processing Requests
Approved deletion requests are typically processed within a reasonable timeframe, subject to:
- Verification completion
- Legal and operational constraints
- Data dependencies across systems
Mahalli does not guarantee immediate deletion.
9. Policy Updates
Mahalli may update this Data Deletion Policy to reflect changes in:
- Platform functionality
- Legal or regulatory requirements
- Internal data governance practices
Updated versions will be made available through the Platform or official channels.
